road trip
We are heading out, to camp in the woods, sit by the sea, and snorkel the reef. We have one with a cold and hope it stays that way. Praying you have a blessed weekend!

Simple Woman's Daybook
FOR TODAY...October 26th.
Outside my window...skies are gray and rain is expected later today.
I am thinking...my children are not doing what the should be; it is far too noisy in here.
I am thankful for...the cover our camper is parked under. I was concerned that we may have had a leak, but is was dry to the bone, Yeah!
I am wearing...jeans and a t-shirt~headed to work concession at a volleyball game.
I am remembering...the trip I took 25 years ago, to the coral reef we are taking the children to next weekend.
I am going...camping at the shore this weekend. Preparations are under way.
On my mind...The next thing that must be done to
From the learning rooms...sea books, and waiting on a book shipment to arrive.
Noticing that...many people around us are sick right now. Trying to ignore swine flu hysteria and yet this is the "normal" cold and flu season, get better all of you...for I could use a little tea time.
(Still)Pondering these same words from last week~Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58.
From the kitchen...camping menu preparations, red sauce (smells of onions and garlic right now), country style ribs, meatloaf w/ mashed potatoes and peas, and a trip to the market.
One of my favorite things~the way the camper smells (always the same) when we first open it. All things cooked in the woods...they just taste better there. (OK, that was two things.)
From my picture journal...Summer Waltz in the mountains, July 2006

Simple Woman's Daybook
FOR TODAY...October 19th
Outside my window...it is a chilly October morning.
I am thinking...that I am so blessed. I can complain about a lot of things, but not many are valid in the light of eternity.
I am thankful for...God's provision in my life. I am not talking about financially, although I am thankful for that, but about answered prayer. Sometimes we think we have things figured out and God slams a door shut. I can get all in a quandary when this happens and as time moves on I begin to see that He closed that door simply because we were about to make a wrong choice. God is good, all the time...
I am wearing...yoga pants and a long sleeve t-shirt (condo-clothes).
I am remembering...we (believers) are all sinners saved by grace. Teaching my children why you would want to do works and how they do not make us any more worthy.
I am going...to CLEAN the girls room this week. We have reached the point that they can no longer manage and that's when purging, cleaning and organizing give us a fresh start.
I am reading...my Bible and not much else.
I am hoping...to start a Christmas list (OK, the prompt is hoping).
On my mind...what to do for our 20th wedding anniversary, any ideas?
From the learning rooms...science experiments, a new read-aloud, a new book study, and the rest continues as normal.
Noticing that...my family makes more Fall meal requests than any other time of year. chili, chicken casserole and pumpkin log just to name a few.
Pondering these words~Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58. Amen, this verse will be posted in my house by the end of the day!
From the kitchen...spinach salad, wedding soup, homemade sushi, beans and rice and I'm not sure what else.
One of my favorite things~anything apple being cooked in my kitchen. Cooked apple is not my favorite thing to eat, but the smell sends me straight to my great-grandmother's home.
From my picture journal...God the artist, taken last fall in Nashville.

Simple Woman's Daybook
FOR TODAY...October 12th, Columbus Day!
Outside my window... it is still dark, the rooster is crowing and cats are waiting at the back door to be fed.
I am thinking...how wonderful a restful weekend was. I have taken a nap four days in a row, I could get used to this.
I am thankful for... my mom's speedy recovery. She is doing great and I am thankful for all the prayers.
I am wearing...summer jammies with a sweater.
I am remembering...way too many things. I finally began a list of the loose ends that need to be tied. As I think of them I jot them down and hope I will have the time to get them done soon.
I am going...on a Friday night road trip ~ out of town football game this week.
I am reading...Julie of the Wolves, as our read aloud book.
I am hoping...to make it to the ironing pile this week. I am guessing I have about twelve hours worth, I keep track and let you know.
On my mind...thyroid. I am researching tests, treatments and alternatives and looking for some answers.
From the learning rooms...books need to be ordered this week. We are progressing nicely, especially for this time of year, yeah!
Noticing that...things need to be de-cluttered, and a few more fallish items put out.
Pondering these words..."My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government." Thomas Jefferson
From the kitchen...banana-millet muffins are coming our of the oven (right now) with smoothies for breakfast, egg salad sandwiches for lunch and that is as far as I have gotten into this weeks menu. Oh, lots of veggies because I went to market...that's all that matters anyway, right?
Around the house...regular chores and cleaning. This is always difficult this time of year.
One of my favorite things~ fall meals, now if the temperature would fall below ninety.
From my picture journal...sorry, will not upload this morning.

Simple Woman's Daybook
FOR TODAY...Monday, October 5th.
Outside my window...it is cloudy with a slight chance of rain. We need rain and I am hoping we are blessed with that today.
I am thinking...God is good, all the time! I have been spending a lot of time researching universities for Jacob to visit and see if he is interested.
I am thankful for...the speedy recovery my mom is making. She has been with us since the end of last week and all is going well.
I am wearing...jeans and a t-shirt.
I am remembering...what time medications were given, the last time exercises were done, that it is time for more ice , and that the world is still turning out there.
I am going...as little as possible.
I am reading...only my Bible. I had begun a new book until Mom arrived and wanted it.
I am hoping...to work on Jacob's High School transcript this week.
On my mind...slowing down and ministering to the "sick". This is truly a blessing and something I am always thankful to have the opportunity to do.
Noticing that...it is much darker when I crawl out from under the covers each morning.
Pondering these words ~ "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
From the kitchen...yummy meals, prepared here or by someone else.
Around the house...home health nurse visits, physical therapy visits, friend and family visits, school work and enjoying each others company.
One of my favorite things~pumpkin spice cake with my morning cup of coffee at the beginning of Fall.
