Four Seasons :: Autumn Challenge {Day 30 of 30}

the last of the autumn challenge posts
30 days is more than 10% of my total posts, that's pretty sad considering the number of years it has been in existence
so, I think there needs to be a give-away for the 300th post and it needs to happen before 2015

SO happy I did this challenge and it made me accountable to being in this space.
Thank you, to the couple of you that commented.
Maybe I'll consider the next season challenge....

A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22
So thankful for these girls and this season of their lives.
We do a lot of laughing....priceless!

Four Seasons :: Autumn Challenge {Day 29 of 30}

FOR TODAY, November 11, 2014, Veterans Day

Outside my window...it is a chilly November day!

I am thinking...I can't believe he called me. I contacted a guy, that posted his story on Glenn Beck's website, and he called me. We had a two and a half hour conversation about Glioblastoma, brain cancer that his mother, and my father, has. He was a wealth of information on so many levels and it felt like I was trying to drink from a fire hose.

I am thankful...
  • Veterans that have fought for my freedom. Freedom is NOT free.
  • for every minute that I spend with my dad. No matter how much time that is it never feels like enough.
  • for anything that forces me to slow down, cold included, but it is not enjoyable.

In the kitchen...rotisserie chicken and whatever else they can fix for themselves.

I am wearing...jammies, on before dark, and dark's before dinner...still on now and it's lunch time the next day.

I am creating...another batch of soap and another pot of soup.

I am was going...to Bible study last night but I have a very yucky cold. I left my house at 8:30am, and returned about 5pm, just about the time I would have had to leave for Bible study...just couldn't do it.

I am wondering...why we have no cure for the common cold.

I am reading...a lot of articles, studies and information on Glioblastoma.

I am hoping...we get a good report at Duke next week.

I am looking forward to...a family trip this weekend that will include a Friday night football game, a baby shower and a walk on the beach.

I am learning...to be still and know that He is God!

Around the house...things are shaping up. Decisions have been made, supplies purchased and facelifts are about to begin.

I am pondering...just how quickly life can change.

A favorite quote for today...Every experience God gives us, every person He puts in our lives, is the perfect preparation for the future that only He can see. Corrie Ten Boom, The Hiding Place

One of my favorite things...shopping with my girls. Two of us prefer not to shop at all so that means it doesn't happen frequently but when it does we have a good time.

A few plans for the rest of the week: packing, schooling, orthodontist, music lessons, work, pretty much the usual.

A peek into my day...

So Much Cuteness...I miss this kid, if any length of time goes by, between visits!

Four Seasons :: Autumn Challenge {Day 28 of 30}

early family dinner
light filtering through the pines out back
an unexpected strop at the produce stand scored fresh black eyed peas and cabbage
so thankful I remembered there was a saved hambone in the freezer

and that we will be changing clocks soon
why can't they just leave those clocks alone?

Four Seasons :: Autumn Challenge {Day 17 of 30}

Some days I struggle to focus on the bigger picture.
I search for details and it's all still fuzzy.
In a search for peace I focus on the Prince of Peace.

Four Seasons :: Autumn Challenge {Day 16 of 30}

So happy this plant blooms among the roses in my front flowerbed.
Because I live in the deep south I am happy for anything that blooms in fall color.
There are falling leaves but they are nothing close to the colors of crimson and gold.

Four Seasons :: Autumn Challenge {Day 10 of 30}

Hoping to complete this challenge with Peggy....

we passed this tree coming in and going out
it was stunning every time we passed by
as if we didn't remember how beautiful it was the last time

25 years since we'd been to a homecoming game
so many things different and some things never change
students are still wearing black and gold overalls to the game
now our son is interning in this place we call "God's country"
