Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY August 17, 2009...

Outside my window...it is very hot and sticky, even at 7 o'clock in the morning.

I am thinking...how can summer be ending and school be starting two weeks from today???

I am thankful for...the end of Spanish I and II. My two oldest boys spent their summer getting 8 credit hours, showing me their willingness to work hard and get it done. I assured them this would be the only summer semester I would require of them.

From the learning rooms...we are still purging, cleaning and preparing for the coming year.

From the kitchen...things are quiet with three children gone. The two here are willing and capable of fixing whatever they can find. I am just beginning to plan menus for the next month. With the transition to school, music, football, etc. they will need to be light, easy, and planned ahead.

I am wearing...yoga pants, t-shirt and FIT-flops.

I am creating...dish-rags and needing to sandwich Hannah's quilt.

I am going...to the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Party. This year the guest speaker is a friend who had her last chemo treatment last week.

I am reading...the Yada Yada Prayer Group (STILL). As you can see by my reading and posting in this space, there is not much time for reading or writing.

I am hoping...that after a couple of weeks my husband will no longer be sleep deprived.

I am hearing...chickens clucking and the A/C running.

Around the house...laundry is going, the ironing pile is shrinking, Caleb has gone fishing, weeds need pulling, and with just Seth and I home it is quiet.

One of my favorite things...crawling back into bed after breakfast (not today).

A few plans for the rest of the week: Regular football practice starts for us. This means we have survived two-a-day practices and the school that my boys play for is now in session. Delivery of school books to a friend that will sell them for me. Vacation days at the end of the week. The return of three children.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...at a Summer wedding on the beach.

Thank you Peggy for hosting this sweet reminder of graciousness and contentment. You may read more Daybooks here if you like.

Love the colorful picture - a nice one for summer memories. :-) Hope your final preparations go well before you all start back to school.

Blessings!

Hi Lisa,
My Mom is so/so...a lot happened this summer, she was hospitalized and such, but she is stablized and we are praying for a full recovery. It may take a miracle, but our God can surely do it!

I do have an acct. on Facebook- LOL...it's how I keep in contact with all of my friends from church. It's a quick and easy way to say hello and see what everyone is up to in just a couple minutes. One click and you get to say hi to everyone. That's why I'm there.

We'll see you soon...very soon. Praying for a great year for all of us.
